The service will operate up to September 2019 and will be based in West London, co-located at Kensington Town Hall and our Old Oak housing office in East Acton.

      We are recruiting specialist project workers to work on this service. The post holder will work as part of a response task group assisting with the rehousing and resettlement of people affected by the Grenfell Fire. Internal candidates will need their manager to support their secondment into the service.

      The purpose of the service is to deal with the decisions and practicalities associated with home finding, moving in, settling and sustaining tenancies onwards. You will spend a substantial amount of time providing face-to-face support to people using the service.

      The Substance Misuse Assertive Worker role;

      The role is dedicated to the continued delivery of support to those drugs and alcohol using clients and other chronically excluded adults in Southend who have been traditionally hard to engage in services designed to reduce the negative impacts of their substance use and to tackle contributory and ancillary factors.

      This role will be delivered on a rota basis, predominately out of hour (early’s and late’s) and including weekend working.

      Responsibilities of our Substance Misuse Assertive Worker;

      - Being closely involved in multi-disciplinary case conferences designed to deliver improved engagement of complex individuals and, where appropriate, being the ‘arms and legs’ of such meetings
      - Working closely with the dedicated Alcohol Liaison Nurse service to provide support to individuals identified in Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as having drink-related health problems which could be mitigated via educative and treatment interventions

      The ideal Substance Misuse Assertive Worker will have the below skills and experience;

      - Good working knowledge of Welfare Benefits, Complex Needs, Mental Health, Drugs & Alcohol Misuse and Education, Training & Employment options
      - Empathic, persistent and patient and  a good understanding of some of the barriers faced by this client group in accessing services
      - Strong diplomatic skills
